We love movies. We love games. And we love stand-up. So we've combined all of these things to make a truly unique event!

Stand-up for Movies is our new monthly movie trivia game, followed by a stand-up act - the first one will be on Wednesday February 21st 2018.

Why is Stand up for Movies different?

Hosted by Sam Espensen, it is based loosely on the wonderful Doug Loves Movies podcast.

Each round is played by one person from each team - meaning you can play in a team or on your own.  And if you don’t want to play - it’ll be just as much fun to come along and watch.

The questions go from the silly to serious trivia - some involve sheer luck, some are funny and others require a level of film nerdiness. Just don’t expect the usual quiz format!

Every month we’ll have a guest stand-up comedian who will also play the game, and then do a set after a short interval. We will also have food and special drinks offers on the night.

Our first stand-up guest is the awesome Martin Pilgrim - Martin is a stand-up comedian of nine years and a strong contender for the title of Most Plagiarised Man on Twitter. His thoughtful comedy has earned him support slots for Stewart Lee and Russell Howard and he has just released Sadulthood, his second full-length show. "Adept and Funny"- The Guardian

What can you win?

Every month Bristol Spirit will donate a ‘Boozebuster Box’ - a VHS tape containing 5cls of either gin or vodka inside.

The comedian will bring a prize too.

AND we want EVERY contestant to donate something! This can be anything you like. Ideally it will have a movie theme or connection. But it can just be something you think is funny/of value/weird/good. It does not have to be expensive at all.

Entry price is £6.00 including VAT, entry to the quiz (if you want to play) and to enjoy the comedy.

We do not pack out our events out, so we are limiting the event to 25 people - so if you want to be part of Bristol Spirit history and come to the first ever Stand up for Movies - you know what to do!

Doors open - 5pm

Game starts - 7.30 pm

Last orders 10pm.
